Chapter 8

I stood there for a second after the shock that Jon was turning Karianne down. That and having that gorgeous smile bestowed on me. What the hell why would he turn her down everyone thought she was a lot of fun. She was tall blonde and perfect I shook my head dismissing the thought. “uhm yeah … I have to go get my groceries and a couple things from Wal-mart.” I stammered out. I could feel the daggers from Kari's eyes ripping me to shreds. “but if you want ….”

Jon quickly cut me off “No … I promised to take you so you could get your groceries... and you said you would show me where to get some clothes ...” He nodded to Karianne and we headed back towards his SUV. He watched me as I walked by “You okay?”

“yes I am fine..” I replied before going upstairs into my loft to grab my purse. I had been so sure he was going to take Karianne up on her offer. Why had he turned her down? He was really throwing my whole opinion of him out the window completely. He walked up behind me in the loft.

“You didn't seem it … “ He sighed a second “who was that by the way?”

“That was my best friend Anna's little sister Karianne... she works at the coffee shop too … “ I stated as I wrote down a quick list of things I needed to get the store. I needed to take Jovi out before we left but I couldn't find him till I saw him setting at the floor by Jon's feet. I wanted to glare at him the lil betrayer. “Jovi you wanna go out ….” I turn to Jon who had already got the leash. “I have to take him out..”

“okay...” He handed me the leash as I grabbed my purse and hooked it on Jovi's collar. We quickly headed out while Jon set on the steps in front of the apartment building. I was back not that long after and he stood up. “why don't we take him with us ...”

“in your SUV?!” I stared at him. “your leather seats?”

“Cooper gets in there fine I don't think Jovi is going to cause a problem in the back.. “ He held his hand out for my dogs leash and helped my big dog into the back before shutting the door and opening my door bowing with a flourish. “your chariot awaits...”

I had to laugh at that shaking my head this guy was definitely not how I pictured in my head. We headed out of the town. I knew by the time I got to work at Jake's it be around town that I had spent the day with Jon Bongiovi.

We headed out and I gave him directions to the Wal-mart. We got what we needed done. Against my protests he helped pay for the groceries his reasoning he would be eating them too and it was only fair. We headed over to a local diner there and took Jovi out for a long walk. My puppy had a ball running around a huge dog park before I called him back and we headed home as I had to get changed and get to work. We had a nice talk during our trip and I learned a few things about him. How he always wore sunglasses cause of his eyes and he had a wicked sense of humor that caught me out a few times. I had never laughed as much as I did that first day just hanging out with Jon. I didn't know it at the time but he was slowly breaking down the barriers I kept around myself to keep from getting hurt.

We got home a little before I had to go to work so I quickly got changed while Jon being helpful put the groceries away. I didn't want to be late but I didn't want to leave all the work to him. He had told me it was okay as it gave him something to do. I just nodded and headed out thankfully it was still nice out and I only had a few blocks to walk. I told him that if he needed anything that the number for the coffee shop was by the phone then headed to work.

When I got into work everyone turned their head to look at me. It made me extremely self conscious and I went in the back go get my apron. “so I heard you spent the day with our famous visitor ...” Jake asked form where he was taking doughnuts out of the oven. His eyebrows raised “be careful Shanna... “

“I see Kari's started the gossip already...” I shook my head tying my apron. “yes I spent the day with Jon...” I stated smartly. “I showed him our town and showed him how to get to Wal-mart in the next city...” I grabbed my pad and pen. “nothing more ...” He didn't need to know that said famous visitor was currently inside my apartment with my dog doing who knows what. “there's nothing to worry about Jake … he's not interested in me … he just needed someone to show him around nothing more ...” I headed out front cutting the discussion off.

Karianne stood over to the left with a sulky look on her face. I ignored her as I cleaned up a couple of my stations. I ignored any comment she made or insinuation she made. I was working behind the counter when I couldn't get away from her. “so … have a nice TIME Shananany … you know he only turned me down cause he felt sorry for you … poor pathetic Shananay … “

“I seem to remember he turned you down cause you threw yourself at him..” I bluntly turned away from her and went about finishing up what I was doing. Then went back to the side to work on my book which I had left there the day before. “oh and Kari... that nickname is very childish I thought we were out of high school...” I stated before going back to my book. My face flushed a bit after seeing the shocked look on her face. I had never stood up against her or anyone else before. It kind of felt good.
