Chapter 6

The next morning was quiet a surprise to me as I expected my house guest would have left before I got up. . I got a shock when I went downstairs in my jeans to get ready for the day I had thought Jon had left till I walked into my kitchen to the smell of pancakes. It was kind of nice to have someone to actually talk to though I am not one to be very talkative till I've had at least two cups of coffee in the morning. I had walked into my kitchen seeing Jon standing at my little stove wearing my apron that my niece bought me flipping pancakes. I think I blinked twice before saying “uhm good morning..”

He must have heard me coming cause he just turned and gave me a smile. “I hope you don't mind ..uh.. its the least I could do you washed my clothes for me and … let me use your spare room. .. Coffee's done and uh you were out of eggs... and the sausage should be done in five seconds or less...I went to the store down the street .. and I took Jovi for a walk....got you some more eggs and some orange juice...” he seemed to ramble like I did in the morning which I have to tell you is kind of cute.

I stared at him for a few seconds “you did what?” It took me a few minutes to realize as I am not exactly great on the uptake early in the morning. I took a breath “wait a sec let me get this correct you made coffee, pancakes... eggs but had to go to the store first to get the eggs and took my dog for a walk?” I shook my head “why?”

Like I said … it was the least I could do .. after you put me up for the night.... and well Jovi seemed to have to go out ...” Jon shrugged and set the food on the table. “eat up before it gets cold ….” He set down in a chair.

I moved over to the table after grabbing a large mug of coffee. I am not used to having this huge a breakfast early in the morning. It usually consists of a couple cups of coffee and a yogurt before heading off to do whatever errands I had to do for the day. The only time I had a larger breakfast is if I had my great niece Kam for the day then I made sure she had a good one before she headed off to school. I took a pancake and some sausage. “well thank you but you didn't have to...”

Jon just shrugged again biting into his own food before swallowing. “do you have to work today?” He looked over at me over his coffee cup.

not till later I have a few errands to run and I need to head to the next city to grab a few groceries...” It was weird sitting at my kitchen table having a conversation with someone. I usually got what I needed for breakfast and headed out after taking my dog out. It was nice but weird even when my brother was there we usually were on different time zones.

He nodded licking his lips sightly. “I could run you over there if you want … I have to go there to see if I can grab some clothes … this trip wasn't exactly planned out real well...” He sighed “I just needed to get away for a couple days and just grabbed my keys and took off..” I just nodded letting him talk if it was one thing I was, it was a good listener. “we have a tour coming up, just needed an escape before we headed out … go somewhere no one was wanting anything from me …..' He trailed off. “sorry..”

no its okay .. Jon....” I stated “sometimes we just need someone to vent to … its not a big deal... and “ I took a breath after sipping my coffee. “Its a small town … no one is really going to bother you here if you don't want them to … you can use my spare room as long as you need it... “ I offered the room without even thinking, something about the way he was talking.

Jon looked over at me again a small smile gracing his face. “Thanks … if its not a problem … I think I'll take you up on the offer...I'd like to see a bit more of this little town..”

hey its little but .. its nice … least of all its quiet .. much different than I guess you come from ...” I stated pointedly Something about Jon was just making me act nothing like myself. I felt at ease around him something I rarely did with anyone. I finished my breakfast before taking the plates off the table. I had to put some distance between us because I wasn't used to feeling like this. I usually kept to myself I rarely had company other than my family. Here it was this strange guy who needed a place to stay for a couple days a rock star no less yet. I turned to look over my shoulder where he was finishing eating. He was nothing like I had imagined not like I had a state of reference to compare it to. Just the usual press crap which half the time wasn't right. I sighed and finished cleaning up. Before putting the plates in the dishwasher to wash.

Jon stood up to finish help me clean up. “you didn't have to do that I can clean up after myself ..” He had stated. We put the rest of the food away, there was a lot of leftovers. “sorry I am used to cooking for a group of guys that eat like ..well pigs..” He shrugged.

Its no problem .. I can probably heat it up later or something..” I stated softly before turning the dishwasher on. I started to go out the door at the same time as he did. I took a step back “after you ...” I indicated with my hand.

No ladies first...” He once again showed me that charming smile that must make those girls at his shows throw their underwear at him. I shook my head and headed out the door to grab my coat. “so why don't you show me your charming town.... I didn't get to see much yesterday after the mud bath...” Jon joked.

yeah sorry about that … that wasn't meant for you … you just kind of got caught in the crossfire ...” I sighed as we got ready to go. I made sure Jovi had enough food and water before heading out the front door and locking it. Jon looked annoyed by the comment. “don't worry Jason and Eric should be at work by now … so long as we stay out of the hardware store you shouldn't have a run in with them...” I shrugged.
